A Bit About Vega

With over 6 years as a full-time professional cosplayer, Vega has poured her creativity into numerous cosplay builds, crafting tutorials, cinematic short films, and community inclusive projects. Having built her following to over 1.4M, Vega's 3 main goals are to craft epic cosplays, promote cosplayers as working professionals, and encourage cosplay travel and adventure. Having worked with companies such as Viz Media, Sony Entertainment, and MAPPA animation studios, she strives to create a space for cosplayers in the entertainment industry and educate fellow creatives on the opportunities and pitfalls. Through her Cosplay Camper series, Vega hopes to inspire a sense of daring adventure in the community, by traveling across the globe in her camper van to explore unique locations and create cosplay inspired projects.

In addition to cosplay, Vega also uses her craft to work in the film industry as an actor, costume designer, and makeup artist.

Before Cosplay

Before Vega was a cosplayer, she was an adventurer born and raised on a sailboat on the Pacific Ocean. With her parents, she travelled across the world, visiting small Islands until settling for a few years in New Zealand. Upon returning to Canada, she switched my sights to the sky and dedicated her training to becoming a Pilot, which she still works as a part-time instructor. During this time, she was convinced she was going to work in Science and Humanities, graduating from Queen's University with a degree in Geography and GIS. But all of that got pushed aside when she finally let her creativity free and cosplay took over her life.

Life as a Professional Cosplayer

Vega was technically introduced to cosplay in 2012, when she did my first cosplay as Pichu at a small local convention. It was fun, but she didn't really get into it until the obsession hit her in the University years of 2018. She found myself consumed by elaborate plans of building armor and filming stories on tik tok when she should have been studying for the next exam. When Covid hit and she lost my job as a GIS analyst she thought, 'Oh well, I'll just chill out for a few months and have some fun cosplaying.' 4 years later, she still hasn't gone back to 'normal' work.

Vega has now dedicated my time to creating new costumes, sharing her passion with fans and other creators, and travelling the world to find artistic inspiration. As the sole employee of her little business and completely self-taught, Vega is the model, photographer, manager, editor, crafter, marketing team, accountant, makeup artist, and every other title. Though she often finds herself questioning how she manage it all, it's the joy and sense of accomplishment each finished project gives her that makes her do it again and again. Both that, and the amazing community of fans she have supporting her because without them, none of this would be possible.
